Favorite Abbey moment?2020欧冠时间 My favorite “moment” at the Abbey is preseason sailing. Each year the Varsity Sailing Team travels to Florida for a week of training and sailing. There is a lot of team bonding and it’s something I look forward to each year!

Favorite Abbey tradition?2020欧冠时间 My favorite Abbey tradition is the first dance. It is such a fun time because everyone is so excited to be back on campus with all their friends!

When I first came to Portsmouth Abbey I was a student who went to school because it was what I knew and was told to do. Since being at Portsmouth Abbey I have had an intellectual awakening and have taken interest in school for my passion towards education.

Favorite meal in the dining hall? In all honesty I love the dining hall food and I can’t choose once favorite meal. I enjoy every meal and could not be more thankful for the staff.

Favorite Abbey moment? My favorite Abbey moment was graduation for the class of 2019. It was a ceremony that marked a change in the lives of so many that I knew so well, it also allowed me to picture where I would be in a year.

My favorite Abbey moment was my first ever snow day Form III year! I woke up that morning and began to go about my morning routine when all of a sudden I heard screams of delight coming from down the halls of Mary’s yelling that we had a snow day. The rest of that day consisted of sledding and snowball fights. My being from Texas this was a first for me and is definitely a moment I will never forget.

Favorite class/teacher? And why?2020欧冠时间 My favorite class was Biology with Mr. Green. Though it was definetly one of the most challenging classes that I have taken at the Abbey it also turned out to be the class that I most looked forward to. Mr. Green made sure to put an interesting and fun twist on everything from the electron transport chain to salt marshes!

Favorite meal in the dining hall? Definitely the perogies!

The Abbey has taught me how to spend my time wisely and given me the skills to mature into an adult.

Favorite class/teacher? And why?2020欧冠时间 Fundamentals of Art with Ms. Swift my IV Form year. Ms. Swift always made class fun and we made a variety of different types of art that I never thought I could make.

Favorite Abbey moment?2020欧冠时间 My favorite moments at the Abbey are spending time with my friends every day in class, on the field and in the house.

At the Abbey I love sitting down after a long day and eating dinner with all of my friends. The Abbey is my second family and just being able to surround myself with people who care about me every night really makes a difference.

Favorite Abbey tradition?2020欧冠时间 My favorite Abbey tradition is gathering in St. Benet’s common room before the winter semiformal dance. All the girls in the dorm get ready together and then we invite everyone from other dorms to the common room for sparkling cider and pictures. It’s always a lot of fun!

How has the Abbey changed you?2020欧冠时间 The Abbey has changed me in numerous ways. I think after coming to the Abbey I definitely have become more independent. The environment here really allows you to be able to become your own person and pursue your own passions. I have been able to participate in clubs that truly stimulate me and try new sports that I actually really enjoy, like field hockey.

The Abbey has had an enormous impact on my life over the past 4 years. As a student, the Abbey has increased my ability to manage time with work. Staying ahead of school work is a key to getting the best grades you possibly can. The school also allows students to forge relationships with teachers. Over my years I was able to grow close with many teachers, which lead to me learning a lot about life and how to speak with adults and hold intellectual conversations.

Favorite class/teacher? And why? One of my favorite teachers at the Abbey is Dr. Sones who was my teacher for 2 years. Not only was his teaching style informative and taught on a level where I was able to understand, but he was always helpful after class. If there was anything that I was struggling with he was always available for conference and never saw it as a problem to help me out. His class was challenging but he gave us all necessary tools to complete all tasks given to us, and always gave us enough time and info to do well on tests and quizzes.

Favorite Abbey tradition? My favorite Abbey traditions would be the broomball competition between houses for the Raven Cup and the tuck dances that happen every term. Both events are fun times with the whole school community.

I used to be a very shy and quiet person before coming to the Abbey. Starting my sophomore year, I started to be talkative and outgoing because the Abbey community has taught me how to be confident in myself. The diversity and open-mindedness in the community has encouraged me to speak up for myself.

Favorite Abbey moment?2020欧冠时间 During Spring Term in my Form V year I broke my foot and had to be on crutches for two months. Every morning several of my friends would show up outside my dorm and take me to classes in a wheelchair. I will never forget those days.

Favorite Abbey tradition?2020欧冠时间 The International Student Dinner. International students invite another student to a special dinner. The students prepare a dish from their native country and share stories about their home. It is a fun night to share and learn about other cultures. We are lucky to go to school with people from all over the world!

The Abbey has changed me in so many ways. It has made me a better student through the rigorous academics and amazing teachers, a better athlete through our competitive athletic programs and great coaches, and more importantly a better person with such a welcoming and friendly community that I live in.

Favorite class/teacher? And why? My favorite class was IV form year Humanities with Dr. Zins and Mr. O’Connor. Going into it, I was not excited to read two books at one time. As the year went on, I got used to the work and realized how beneficial it was to my reading and writing skills. The rigor of this course has also made me expand my mind and forced me to think deeper. Overall this course has been able to benefit me in all aspects of school work.

Favorite Abbey moment? My favorite moment at the Abbey was my IV form year when our hockey team upset the reigning back to back league champions. So many students came to the game to support us, and it was a really fun environment to play in. The support our classmates gave us was amazing and a true testament to what the Abbey community is all about.
